Is There an Assault Today on Objective Truth?

I was a mediocre track athlete for one semester in high school (January-June 1970) and one year in college (1972-73). I ran 400 meters in 50.8 seconds. That was not a good time in a Division 1 college. But in 1972 I would have won the gold medal in the women’s 400 meters by one full second had I equaled my personal record (pr). The women’s winning time that year was 51.8.

I never actually thought about trying to compete as a woman. But the thought that I would have been world-class as a female was interesting to me. Everyone back then knew that males have a biological advantage over females in nearly every sport, due to testosterone, muscle and bone structure, size, etc. Competing against girls would have been unfair.

Yesterday I ran across a YouTube video by someone named JP about a Seattle high school boy who competed in cross-country his freshman year. He had mediocre success. But before his sophomore year he decided that he was really a girl. The YouTube video discusses how he went from placing 72nd as a boy to winning as a girl.

I hope you check out the short 12-minute video. You can view it here.i

JP made a point at the end that totally grabbed me:

“There is objective truth. There are things we know. There are things we don’t know…But there are certainly things we know that are objectively true…We know 2 + 2 = 4…There is no question in my opinion that there is an assault on objective truth” (9:20-9:53).

A bit later JP suggested this telling application:

“God gave us courage to say what’s right, to stand for truth, even when it’s hard…especially when it’s hard (10:35-48).”

Do you think there is an assault on objective truth today? If so, do you think it has found its way into some of our churches and theological schools? Do you think that God has called upon us to be courageous and to stand for His truth, especially the truth that everlasting life is for all who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ for it, and only for those who believe in Him for it?

__________

i NOTE: This is not a Christian video. I do not know if JP is a believer or not. But he makes what I consider to be some absolutely fantastic observations about objective truth today.
