Great News on Sharon’s Cancer Marker Blood Test

March 25, 2019 by Bob Wilkin in Blog

It’s been a bit of a roller coaster. The three-hour surgery turned into a nine-hour surgery. Her benign ovarian cyst was found to have cancer in it. The cyst broke during extraction.

Sharon’s CA 125 test before surgery was under 30. Normal. After surgery it went over 200. We were told she’d need three chemo treatments.

Then after her second chemo her CA 125 test number went UP to 315. So they added another chemo drug and decided she’d need six, not three, chemo treatments.

Last week Sharon had another CA 125 blood test before her fourth chemo on Friday. We got the results: 72.9! What a difference! From 315 to 72.9 in just three weeks (and just one chemo).

Sharon isn’t out of the woods yet. We’d appreciate your continued prayers. She has had pain in her hands and feet and in her joints, especially the first week after chemo. Please pray for her to handle the side effects well and for her CA 125 score to go under 30.

I should add that Sharon remains quite upbeat. Most of the time you’d never know she has cancer and is going through chemo. She is such a dynamo. I’m glad she is. She is a great encouragement to me and to all who know her.
