Salvation vs. Testimony

We recently received a review copy of Evangelism Made Simple: How a Clear Presentation of the Gospel Can Make Your Witnessing More Effective by Jim Scudder and Phil Stringer. We are not yet through the book, but I thought the following quote from Stringer on the meaning of James 2:14-18 was excellent:

“This passage discusses justification by works. However, the key is the phrase ‘shew me’ in verse 18. We are justified before men by our works (Ephesians 2:10; Titus 2:11-13). This is our testimony. We are justified by faith before God—this is our salvation (Romans 4:1-8)” (Evangelism Made Simple, p. 93).
