What Are We Trying to Accomplish?

“Martin Luther did not so much set out to reform the church as he did to reform preaching.” ~John T. Pless

What is GES trying to accomplish?

I appreciate Pless’s quote about Martin Luther’s mission. Luther did not want to start a new church or denomination—he wanted to reform preaching.

That’s basically, what we’re trying to do, too.

We aren’t out to start a church or a denomination—we want to reform evangelism.

Whether you’re Baptist or Brethren, EFree or Episcopal, Calvary Chapel or Covenant, we want to reform the way you do evangelism.

We want people to evangelize clearly by using Jesus’ own words and terminology, especially as recorded in the Gospel According to John. We want people to share the promise of eternal life and call others to believe in Jesus for that promise.

Of course, that’s not all that we want to accomplish. Discipleship is crucial, too. We want to help Christians become spiritually mature by freeing them from the clutches of works-salvation spirituality. And that includes getting them clear on evangelism and the one condition of salvation.

I am thankful for all the people who help GES accomplish that mission, through donating to the ministry, writing for us, attending our conferences, inviting us to speak, buying our books, reading the magazine, blog, and journal, and encouraging others to do the same. I truly believe that another Reformation is needed, and with God’s help, I believe we can change the way people evangelize all across the world.
