I wrote a blog related to this question, which you can see here. I decided to follow up on it since more could be said.
CARM (see here) lists thirty-three countries, but only sixteen are current. Those countries are Aram (Syria), Babylon and Mesopotamia (Iraq), Cappadocia (Turkey), Egypt, Ethiopia, Greece, India, Israel, Italy, Lebanon, Libya, Macedonia (North Macedonia), Midian (Saudi Arabia), Moab (Jordan), Persia (Iran), and Spain.
It is difficult to decide which countries to include since many an ancient country mentioned in the Bible is now incorporated into a larger a modern country or, conversely, has been divided among multiple countries.
Since they merely changed names,i Aram, Babylon, Cappadocia, Macedonia, Mesopotamia, Midian, Moab, and Persia are listed above.
Some Bible scholars think Gog and Magog (Ezek 38:2; Rev 20:8) refer to China and Russia, while others think they refer to Turkey or other nations.
There are no countries listed from:
- North America
- Central America
- South America
- the Pacific Islands
Only a few countries from the continent of Africa are listed. While several European countries are mentioned, most are not.
Additionally, the fact that a country is mentioned in the Bible does not mean it will be in Jesus’ kingdom. It could fall before then. We know for sure that a given country will be in the kingdom only if prophetic Scripture says it will be.
We know that Israel will be the leading nation on both the Millennial Earth (Revelation 20) and the New Earth (Revelation 21-22). Zechariah tells us that Egypt will be in the kingdom (Zech 14:18). Revelation 21:26 says that there will be “nations” that bring their tribute to the Lord Jesus each year (cf. “families of the earth” in Zech 14:17, 22).
While it might seem that Libya and Ethiopia are mentioned as being in the kingdom, a concordance study did not find that. If you are aware of any other countries that are mentioned as being in the Millennium or on the New Earth, please let me know by emailing ges@faithalone.org. In any case, it is surprising that only a few countries are specifically identified by name as being in the kingdom. God does not want us to have an extensive list.
The answer to the question posed in the title is no. The fact that your country is not mentioned in the Bible doesn’t mean it won’t be in the kingdom. I suspect that most of the countries in the world today will continue to exist in Jesus’ kingdom. But we can be sure that a country will be in the kingdom only if it’s one of those specifically named in Scripture.
